Royal Washington Altreuter

Born: February 1, 1889 -- Died: March 1, 1925

This marker is just off Pilgrim Path in Greenwood Cemetery. Gravestone of Royal Washington Altreuter
This photo shows the relationship between Royal's marker and another older stone in the same plot. Gravestones at Greewood Cemetery

Below is a close view of the second stone. The inscription is in German. It reads:

HIER RUHET MEINE / GELIEBTE GATTIN / UND ANGEHORIGEN / WILLIAM ALTREUTHER / GEST 12 SEPT 1860 / ALT 35 JAHR / JOHN REISSENWEBER GEST 12 OCT 1863 / IM ALTER VON 39 JAHR / FRIEDRICH ALTERSTADTER / GEST 18 JAN 1864 / WITTWE ALTREUTHER / GATTIN VON / ADAM GROLL / GEB 15 DEC 1852 / GEST 8 NOV 1871

The English translation is:

Here rests my beloved wife and relatives; William Altreuther, died 12 Sept 1860, age 35 years. John Ressenweber, died 12 Oct 1863, 39 years of age. Friedrich Alterstadter, died 18 Jan 1864. Widow Altreuther, wife of Adam Groll, born 15 Dec 1832, died 8 Nov 1871

Old worn gravestone with five names

Now we have several new surnames of relatives but no indication of their relationships.

Greenword Cemetery records indicate that this is a family plot that contains nine bodies, not all of which have stones. They do not have records of all the names on this stone actually being buried there. The names of people in the family plot are:

Frederick Altreuter: died 1/21/1864. William Altreuter: died 7/28/1862. Royal W. Altreuter: died 7/28/1925. Eva Dora Reissenueder died 7/12/1885. John Reissenweber died 10/21/1863. Maggie Groll died 9/12/1875. Margaret McGroll died 11/10/1871. Kunigunda Allustedter died 5/7/1881. Allen N. Smith.
